Awards season is upon us, and Hollywood's biggest night is fast approaching. Here in South Africa the awards usually screen at 03h00 in the morning, and it's a ritual in my house to stay up and watch it.
I have to admit this though, that while I love watching the Academy Awards, and do so every year, there are alot of movies I haven't seen which have been on the roster of stuff to watch.
Right before I started this blog, I made a decision, starting from 1979 (the year I was born) I have committed myself to watching every movie nominated in the Big 6 categories (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor & Best Supporting Actress)... and now that I have started this blog, I will integrate this mission into it (I will, and have also been writing about other movies I happen to watch), this is my mission, thank you for joining me for the ride...
As it so happens - Julie& Julia is currently on the tube (Mother-In-Law watching), it so happens that this movie was nominated for an Oscar in 2009, The 82nd Academy Awards (Meryl Streep for Best Actress) - and it also just happens to be about a blogger with a passion - I'm putting it down to serendipity, purpose for my blog, communicated to me from the screen which has inspired this current trip...
So, next step - Second Blog entry in The Academy Award Category!!! Julie & Julia... (I already reviewed Blue Jasmine a few days ago, but at that point I hadn't actually declared my intention to track my progress here, will do)...
